Installing OpenJK

This guide will describe how to install OpenJK from the weekly builds. Make sure to grab the latest build for your operating system.

Windows

  1. Extract the ZIP package.
  2. Move all files and folders in the "JediAcademy" folder into your game's "GameData" directory (usually located under C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy\) -- so that the EXE file sit just above the "base" folder.
  3. Create a shortcut to "openjk.x86.exe" and use it to launch the Multiplayer game. For Single-Player, use "openjk_sp.x86.exe".

Mac OS X

  1. Open (and mount) the disk image.
  2. Right click (CTRL + click) on your Jedi Academy app, and choose "Show Package Contents".
  3. Move all files included in the "JediAcademy" folder into <jedi academy app>/Contents/ -- so that the (new) apps sit just above the "base" folder.
  4. Drag the "OpenJK" and "OpenJK SP" apps to your dock, or create an alias to them, and use them to launch the game.

Linux

  1. Extract the tarball (TAR.GZ) package.
  2. Move the files included in the "base" folder into your game's "GameData/base" folder. Remove the empty "base" folder.
  3. Move all other files and folders included in the "JediAcademy" folder into your game's "GameData" directory -- so that the binaries sit just above the "base" folder.
  4. Use "openjk.x86*" and "openjk_sp.x86*" binaries to run the game. Create links or launchers to them, based on your chosen Linux desktop environment.

Steam Installations

Steam installs Jedi Academy to <steam folder>/steamapps/common/Jedi Academy/. You'll find the "GameData" directory there.

Follow the same steps as for non-Steam installations.
