Hello! 👋 I'm Culi

My portfolio: work.culi.page (being rebuilt in Fresh at over here)

Latest project: votevote (2022-02feb)

About me: I'm a full-stack engineer with a background in mathematics and an interest in working on any projects promoting and supporting community. I do a bit of everything (design, frontend, backend, data, testing, etc), but I have the most fun working on novel implementations for interesting algorithms, playing with data, and building beautiful and accessible front-ends (esp. data visualization).

Languages I'm comfortable with: Javascript/TypeScript (React, NodeJS), Python (data, ai, scraping, etc), Ruby (Rails) Languages I've tried and can pick up if need be: Elm, Clojure, Rust

Skills:

  • Great at maintaining and improving code quality of a code-base.
  • Chronically cooperative. I'm always down to pair, cooperate, or help out.
  • Strong grasp of CSS standards, semantic HTML, and a11y practices.
  • Data viz skills with D3 and matplotlib and a good grasp of best practices.
  • Lots of experience with both web-scraping and building REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Throw me into a codebase and I can usually find my way around just fine :P

Random assortment of topics I wanna dive in deeper into: generative algorithms, shaders, evolutionary algorithms, database infrastructures for crowd-source data, machine learning in general, scaling databases for crowd-sourced content.
