GitHub Achievements: Unlock Your Coding Milestones and Showcase Your Skills

Discover and showcase your coding accomplishments with GitHub Achievements. Unlock badges and milestones, and let the world see your skills and achievements in the world of coding and development.

1. Pull Shark

The Pull Shark achievement on GitHub is awarded to users who have merged a certain number of pull requests. The number of pull requests required to earn the achievement varies, but it is based on the following tiers:

  • Pull Shark x1: Merged at least 2 pull requests
  • Pull Shark x2: Merged at least 16 pull requests
  • Pull Shark x3: Merged at least 128 pull requests

To earn the Pull Shark achievement, you must first create a pull request. A pull request is a way to propose changes to a repository that you do not own. Once you have created a pull request, it must be reviewed and merged by the repository owner or another authorized user.

Once your pull request has been merged, you will earn the Pull Shark achievement for the tier that corresponds to the number of pull requests that you have merged.

2. Galaxy Brain

The Galaxy Brain achievement on GitHub is awarded to users who have answered at least 2 discussions. The discussions must be in public repositories and they must be marked as answers by another user. You cannot mark your own answers as answers.

Here are the steps on how to get the Galaxy Brain achievement on GitHub:

  • Find a public repository with discussions.
  • Answer a question in a discussion.
  • Ask another user to mark your answer as the answer.
  • Repeat steps 2-3 until you have answered 2 discussions.

Once you have answered 2 discussions, you will earn the Galaxy Brain achievement.

3. Heart On Your Sleeve

The "Heart On Your Sleeve" achievement on GitHub is related to displaying appreciation for other developers' work by starring repositories. To earn this achievement, you need to star a public repository.

4. Starstruck

It's too simple to get Starstruck Achievement & you have few steps to get Starstruck . You can get this Achievement When a Repository on your account hits 16 stars, even if it was transferred, you will receive the badge.

5. Quickdraw

To get the Quickdraw achievement on GitHub, you need to open a pull request against a public repository and close it within 5 minutes.

6. Open Sourcerer

To earn the "Open Sourcerer" badge on GitHub, you need to make your first contribution to an open-source project.

Once your first contribution to an open-source project is accepted and merged, you should receive the "Open Sourcerer" badge on your GitHub profile. Remember that the badge might take some time to appear on your profile, so be patient and continue contributing to open-source projects to earn more recognition.

7. Pair Extraordinaire

The Pair Extraordinaire achievement on GitHub is awarded to users who have co-authored commits on a merged pull request.

  • Create a branch in a repository.
  • Make some changes to the code in the branch.
  • Add a co-author to the commit.
  • Create a pull request to merge the changes back to the main branch.
  • Get the pull request merged.

Once the pull request is merged, you will be awarded the Pair Extraordinaire achievement.

8. YOLO

The YOLO achievement on GitHub is awarded to users who merge their own pull request without code review. To get this achievement, you need to create a pull request in your repository, add a reviewer, and then merge the pull request without waiting for the reviewer to review it.

Here are the steps on how to get the YOLO achievement on GitHub:

  • Create a pull request in your repository.
  • In the top right corner of the pull request, click Reviewers.
  • Add a reviewer to the pull request.
  • Click Merge pull request.
  • A prompt will appear asking you to confirm that you want to merge the pull request without review. Click Merge.

9. Public Sponsor

The Public Sponsor achievement on GitHub is awarded to users who have sponsored an open source contributor through GitHub Sponsors. To get this achievement, you need to visit the GitHub Sponsors website and sponsor any open source contributor.

Here are the steps on how to get the Public Sponsor achievement on GitHub:

  • Go to the GitHub Sponsors website: https://github.com/sponsors/explore.
  • Search for an open source contributor that you would like to sponsor.
  • Click on the "Sponsor" button.
  • Enter your payment information and click on the "Sponsor" button again.
