The MANIFESTO describes intentions. Here we lay out a ROADMAP for future improvements.
High on the list is software packaging. Debian BioMed is a great initiative that gets a lot of packaging right (including FOSS license requirements), but not everyone wants to use Debian. A new initiative that works cross-distribution is the GNU package manager GUIX, which is mentioned in the MANIFESTO. GUIX can be explored as a cross-distro and cross-OS package manager. GUIX will also be part of CloudBiolinux, for example.
Based on created software packages there should be a central resource for tracking packages for bioinformatics that abide by the MANIFESTO.
