Menu Navbar

Sarah Carney edited this page Mar 27, 2019 · 8 revisions

Per the ISU Theme components, this is the grey main navigation bar below the red Site Navbar. Use this menu for 3 to 7 top level navigation items. We recommend no more than one level of child links, which makes it easier for users to find what they need.

Customizing the Menu Navbar

The 'Main navigation' Menu Block comes with Drupal 8. The theme is configured to place it automatically. If, for some reason, you need to move or replace it, you can do so in the Block Layout UI.

  1. Structure > Block Layout
  2. Find the 'Main navigation' block and move to the Menu Navbar region.
  3. If the 'Main navigation' block is not in the Block Layout page, click 'Place block' to the right of Menu Navbar region and find the menu in the list.
  4. To add/edit links in the Main navigation menu, Structure > Menu and Edit menu

Dropdown Menus

This theme supports one level of child links in the Menu Navbar.

To enable dropdown menus:

  1. In the Block configuration for the Main navigation menu, set 'Number of levels to display' to 2.
  2. Parent menu items need to have 'Show as expanded' checked.
