create-shortcut-nemo-action

A Nemo Action that allows you to create .desktop files linking to a file, link, or directory of your choosing. (This action is also available as a stand-alone application!)

NOTICE BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

I'm no longer maintaining this project. This was made entirely with GitHub Copilot and Python, which I have not and do not plan to learn. The executable is very slow and unreliable, and any links that may break will not be updated.

As a stand-alone application

  1. Open a terminal and navigate to the directory where you downloaded the files.

     cd create-shortcut-nemo-action

  2. Move the create-shortcut binary to where you want to install it. In this case, I installed it in /usr/local/bin.

     sudo mv create-shortcut /usr/local/bin/

  3. Make the binary executable, if it isn't already.

     sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/create-shortcut

You can now use the Create Shortcut action from the terminal.
