Welcome to the Friend OS Wiki!

The Friend OS a large project. It consists of a serving kernel and a responsive Workspace that can adapt to various GUI paradigms. These two units merge to form one OS that uses the internet as a computer. In this Wiki, we will dig a little bit deeper - hopefully answering a few questions at the same time.

How to read this Wiki

The Wiki, due to a lack of proper organizing of content on Github (:cat:), is organized in a hexadecimal list, from 1-F, and is thus sorted by importance.

The project is actively searching for contributors in several fields:

• Friend Core - our C based serving kernel
• Friend Core Modules - our scripted (PHP for now) modules extend the Friend Core with added functionality
• Friend Workspace - our Javascript based responsive Workspace and desktop environment
• Friend Workspace utilities and settings applications - Javascript based end-user applications
• Friend Shell / Friend DOS - scripting for the Friend Workspace
• Friend Network - our networking layer that brings workspaces and Workspace based apps together
• Graphics - we need wonderful themes and icon sets - and a wonderful default style
• Media and sound - we need sound sets for our Workspace
• Documentation - as we're writing this Wiki we understand that this is a crucial part of our project!
• Press and Communication - we need more help with spreading the word!
