Currently it isn't possible to add parameters like EC and exmax to a protein state without emmax (the Submit Change page throws an error). However, for many proteins, particularly those that don't fluoresce strongly, it is only the EC and exmax/absmax that is reported in the literature and it would still be useful to add those even in the absence of emmax. In some cases, there will be some background fluorescence that is measurable but the authors haven't attempted it, and in others the QY will be very low and reported as "<0.001" or "<0.0001" but again without an emmax value added.

While the 'dark state' checkbox exists that in principle allows the creation of states that don't fluoresce, checking it makes all of the other input boxes disappear. Perhaps the easiest solution would be to either stop the dark state checkbox making these boxes disappear? Alternatively, is it possible to relax the rules more generally, so that emmax isn't an absolute requirement?
