Describe your issue.

I think we should have Scientific Python community meetings same as all the projects have their own meetings, except that in these we can gather members from different projects and start to open conversations about things that are relevant to all of them (like specs). I think having regular meetings might help to keep things going. Also it could help to update people in the community about what we have been up to. Maybe 1 every 2 weeks makes sense at the beginning.

Let me know what you think @stefanv, @jarrodmillman, @tupui. I'm happy to create a 'whenisgood' survey and share it on our discord server in order to find a schedule that fits best for people interested. Then we can add it to our calendar. Also I can be in charge of hosting the meetings, I don't mean to load any of you with more work.

Totally on board with this. Every 2 weeks seems good as well to start with. It really depends who will show up, etc. In any case we can always make more less formal meetings.

https://crab.fit is also nice. I think Stéfan showed this.

👍 on you hosting the meeting too if you are up for it.

Plus one for me too. The only thing I would suggest is to possibly wait until mid-September or so. That way Stefan and I should be able to join.

I am not sure why this is labeled with the discourse label, so I removed it. Discourse is what we use for https://discuss.scientific-python.org.

I suspect this was labeled discourse as that was the first option. I will update the issue template so that the regular issue is listed first. See #281 .

I think this is a great idea 🚀 I'd definitely participate if such a meeting existed!

I'll start working on this. For now I'll do a whenisgood to decide on a time that works for most people and I will post it on our discord server announcements channel so people can fill it out. Once we decide on the time/date for the first meeting I'll add it to the calendar. If you have people in mind that we should invite to this meeting that is not part of the server yet, I'm happy to send some emails too.
