Bug description

I was playing osu! standard when I came across a Loved map (https://osu.ppy.sh/beatmapsets/1514712) where almost every single leaderboard score was using the Wind Down mod (start speed 0.51x, end speed 0.50x) along with the Difficulty Adjustment mod (CS0, HP0, OD0, AR11.0).

After messing around with mod combinations, I discovered that not only is Wind Down's multiplier (0.50x) than Half Time (0.30x), but is constant no matter how low the start/end speed values are (whereas Half Time's multiplier scales with speed).

On a related note, the Difficulty Adjustment mod is also a constant 0.50x multiplier, regardless if any non-default values are used, or whether or not the adjustments make the map easier or harder.

This appears to only be a problem on Loved maps that are too difficult for the vast majority of the playerbase to pass without difficulty reducing mods (the map in question is over 13 stars).

Someone else has informed me that scores with these mods submitted also submit to leaderboards on Ranked maps, despite not awarding pp.

@ppy/team-client seems like this should be moved out of "Probably not": https://github.com/orgs/ppy/projects/19/views/1?pane=issue&itemId=51855520

Just curious: I did not know that scores submitted with "Unranked" mods would be displayed on leaderboards. Is this a bug or an intended feature?

Actually, unranked isn't a correct word for using here. Unranked in stable means that the score will not be uploaded to servers and unranked in lazer means that score will be uploaded, but user will not get PP for this score. Originally this was discussed in #27719 so this will be renamed in future.

Last time i brought this thing up on the last catch-up meeting it was placed in "probably not". And not by my choice.

I believe there was some talk that we should be fixing classic mod multiplier first or something but I dunno at this point.

Surprised this isn't a p0 considering the implications. Should we not be fixing wind down and deleting or adjusting all existing scores? Or should we wait for the ability to adjust mod multipliers and apply a fixup on existing scores?

I don't know how to reply to that at this point.

I have been trying to get progress on this for weeks now (#27685). The series of changes that makes it possible to rebalance multipliers is right there to be reviewed.

200% I brought this specific issue up in a catch-up meeting too, only for it to get de-prio'd.
