Games that dont work as intended & do work as intended (may 10th)

games that dont work properly under cosmic right now, these are games that i have installed right now on steam, this is on arch, with a rx 6700, kernel 6.8.9, latest cosmic-epoch-git aur version r131.7a45dce-1

1. apex legends, black screen
2. counter strike 2, gets stuck in a minimize state, also can be used in x11/xwayland, it will minimize then it will work properly after reclicking on it
3. dirt rally 2.0, using fullscreen will result in a 60hz mode, cant change it to 144hz
4. overwatch 2, launches properly but as soon as you try to click either outside of the game or click on the game in the dock it will fall apart and start freezing/flickering
5. shellshock live, kinda launches properly in a weird window mode but as soon as you try to do fullscreen it freezes
6. assassins creed brotherhood, started out fine but blackscreen right after the ubisoft logo intro
7. doom eternal, launches in window mode and starts flickering then blackscreen
8. cyberpunk 2077, cursor can escape when in borderless, fullscreen makes it go blackscreen, cant move around the red launcher either
9. elden ring, invisible cursor when navigating the menus
10. fallout 4, cursor being weird, menus look broken
11. fallout 76, starts out fine but as soon as i click it goes blackscreen
12. new world, invisible cursor
13. no man sky, fullscreen makes it go black screen
14. batman arkham knight, cursor is invisible, going window mode(no border) freezes it
15. battlefield 1, works in borderless mode but fullscreen will make it go window mode and will be 60hz instead of 144hz
16. battlefield 4, works in fullscreen but its at 60hz instead of 144hz, trying to change to borderless will freeze the game
17. battlebit remastered, cursor is invisible
18. elder scrolls skyrim, black screen
19. witcher 3 wild hunt, works in borderless but not in fullscreen
20. Baldur's Gate 3 - Invisible Cursor, Black Screen/Freeze on focus change.
21. Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Invisible Cursor, Black Screen/Freeze on focus change.
22. Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Invisible Cursor.
23. Cyberpunk 2077 - Window never spawns, but I can hear audio.

3. valheim(proton) launches in a weird window state but clicking on it brings it fullscreen properly

For me cs2 only gets stuck in minimize state, when I force wayland. In x11 (xwayland) it minimizes first but after that works fine.

Edit: And you can fix it with SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0

Adding more to the list of games that work on GNOME Wayland but not COSMIC:

20. Baldur's Gate 3 - Invisible Cursor, Black Screen/Freeze on focus change.
21. Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Invisible Cursor, Black Screen/Freeze on focus change.
22. Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Invisible Cursor.
23. Cyberpunk 2077 - Window never spawns, but I can hear audio.
24. Horizon: Forbidden West - Invisible Cursor.

As for performance, I don't have any substantial data just yet, but after playing Horizon: Forbidden West for a couple of minutes, I was floored by how responsive the inputs were, and how consistent frametimes graph was. As soon as major issues are solved, I'll be sure to gather some data and post the results via the appropriate channels.

Edit:

A small follow-up. I've decided to test RimWorld, because it has a native Linux version. It works fine when using the native version, but as soon as I switch to proton layer in steam, it exhibits the exact same issues other proton games suffer from, like the invisible cursor, and freezing on focus change. It's the cheapest game from the list, so if anybody wants to do some testing, it's the best game for the job. (and it's pretty fun too! ;) )
