Does anybody use Perkeep e.g. as a backup device (be it for regular general backups or maybe tiny backups of "just the most valuable data" like wallets and other encrypted credentials etc.)?

If so, how do you do forward error correction (FEC)?

Perkeep doesn't seem to support it - are there any ways to achieve it? Or any plans to implement it in Perkeep?

You can write a pkg/blobserver that sits atop on another, and provides FEC with par for example.
But nobody done it yet, because mirroring is easier and gives bigger safety.

Yes, it's safer. But also (much) more costly.

I'd say FEC could become a "sweet spot" between safety of mirroring and storage price.
