Sort Option #863
Comments
This sounds like an extremely specific use case. Will this feature be relevant for anyone except you? You can always automate such specific use cases with bash+qpdf or python+pikepdf. And you can still pass filenames as arguments to pdfarranger if you need to do some manual fine tuning. Let's give this 3 weeks. If nothing productive comes up it should be closed and tagged |
It is more for when you drag sequential file names to pdfarranger, Microsoft drops them in whatever order they want. There is a daily need that a clerk at work has that she may have 30+ files to drop in pdfarranger. Thanks Bob

When you drag multiple files from Windows explorer to pdfarranger you need to pay attention to where you click when you start the drag: you need to click on the first file (top left) if you want them added in pdfarranger in the same order as they are in explorer. Ie you can use windows explorer sorting options before you add the files to pdfarranger. Another option would be to create a list of the files in notepad (in the order you want) and then copy and paste this list to pdfarranger. Does that help your use case? Or what kind of sorting order do you think about? (name, size, modified..) |
I did the ordering that you suggested before and it still does it haphazardly. Gotta love MS. That’s why I thought a sort would be handy. I just did copy 2 thru 5 and this is how it brought them in.
Edit: Please remove the full quotes in replies, thanks! /dreua

I have similar issue, where by the pages of each file is sorted in the correct order, but the file order is reverse of what was arranged in file explorer. |
Is there any chance that this can be incorporated into a future update?

ex: file1, file (each with 4 pages)
in the arranger it would be
file2.p1-p4, then file1.p1-p4
Ideally it should be file1.p1-p4, then file2.p1-p4

I'd say a "sort option" would be handy. This is related to #936 too. |
Would like ability to sort, such as file names, pages i.e. if multiple files all page 1, 2, 3, etc.
