Parameter for get_table_options to retrieve only options with at least one value recorded #951

Hi.

I think it would be useful to have the chance to optionally retrieve only options with at least one value recorded in the repository (f.i.: in advanced search form, for Item Types, only show the Item Types for which exist at least one Item in the repository).

The issue (an issue) here probably is that "is in use" is a different query for lots of different kinds of things, so it's not something we can probably generically add, instead it would need to be separately implemented for various models.

I see what you mean.
Would you suggest instead to create ad hoc functions, and customize the pages using them (advanced search form, f.i.)?
