I'm interested in starting a PR to add the websocket transport protocol to this package. Is there anyone else that might want to help me with this?

We can use blockscout's JSON-RPC module for reference.

I am not sure how much time I have in the short term but I am totally supportive of this! Was thinking about doing it too at some point.

Awesome, I'll probably have some time to work on this in a few weeks. It will be a useful optimization for a project I'm working on as well. Will update you here when I start on this!
