I received a notification today from MS regarding the unmanaged disk to managed disk migration.
I haven't gone deeper into the process, but likely the data stored in the unmanaged disk will be erased during the process, and need to be migrated to the new managed disk.

Original email:

Migrate your data to Azure managed disks before unmanaged disks are retired on 30 September 2025
You're receiving this email because you use Azure unmanaged disks.

On 30 September 2025, we'll retire Azure unmanaged disks. Before that date, you'll need to migrate any data that's stored on unmanaged disks to managed disks, which provide additional capabilities including:

Improved reliability, scalability, and ease of use.
Simplified storage management.
Built-in bursting capabilities to cost-effectively scale performance.
After 30 September 2025, any virtual machines that are still using unmanaged disk storage will become unavailable and the storage will be deallocated until the data is moved to a managed disk.

Page blobs will not be affected by this change.

Required action
To avoid service disruptions, review pricing and follow the steps to migrate your Windows or Linux virtual machines to managed disks before 30 September 2025.

Thanks for the notification. Last month I set up most things in preparation for a potential migration to a faster server provided by @pazos Let us know if you want access (I think you're on Gitter and should have my email?), or if you'd rather stick with Azure that would also certainly be something to consider. Thanks so much for providing this for so many years.
