It probably wouldn't hurt, and might reduce conversations or questions posted in Issues.

Personally, I favor Matrix, but it should be whatever chat the authors already use; Matrix users can trivially join IRC rooms, so that'd be second best. Bridging to Slack or Discord requires more effort. However, the most important thing is that it's somewhere the maintainers aleady use, as it's more likely visitors will be able to reach someone if it's not extra work.

If you do use Matrix, let me know your ID and I'll set up a room, add a PR to the README.md here, and make you admin on the channel.
