Hello! Sometime ago we decided to merge the pt and pt-br versions of the OSM Wiki, and I believe it would be good to merge also the translations of LearnOSM. We don't have many people interested in contributing to documentation, so it's better to unite the efforts in just one Portuguese version. Would it be possible?

I just invited the Transifex translation teams for pt and pt_BR to join the discussion here. As one of the team managers I can only moderate the discussion here, I have no knowledge of Portuguese and its local variants.

The request concerns learnOSM but you might consider this for other HOT projects on Transifex too. To give you an idea of the current translation status for these languages I compiled this table:

project pt pt_BR
learnOSM 10.41% 2.4%
Tasking Manager 2 100% 95.91%
Tasking Manager 3 37.02% 13.32%
HOT Export 88.17% 100%
OSM Export 52.52% 0%

In accordance with our guidelines which require four specific files to be translated for a language to appear on learnOSM, pt_BR is still far from reaching this goal.

If you cannot agree on a merge of the language variants then I would really appreciate if pt_BR sees more activity in the near future. With 47 languages currently registered for learnOSM and more than half of them more-or-less without any translation activity we might have to skip those languages without reasonable activity in the near future.

Hi Wille and Michael!

Sorry for taking so long to reply, translation got out of my radar lately. But I'd be happy to help if I can. What should we do in order to have this topic solved? I agree with Wille that it would be better to join efforts. Can we try again to mobilize the team and reach a decision about this?

Tassia.
