#558 - @katia-utochkina's documentation from user interviews:

Map
a) When using the map, participants felt disoriented. They didn’t understand what the map was about and what they saw. Users felt that there needed to be a good description accompanying each map.

b) Many users said that while they appreciated the map functionality, they didn’t consider it a priority on small screens.

c) Users were confused by the country page’s map clusters and couldn’t understand what they meant and why they differed in sizes. Also, it was unclear to them why some markers had “+” symbols inside while others didn’t.

Lack of engagement with the “[ ]” icon
None of the participants clicked on the “[ ]“ icon when seeking the project page. They couldn’t exactly identify what the icon meant and thought hitting it would activate a full screen mode for the map

Popup window
Users wanted the popups to appear right above the map markers rather than in the top left of the screen

Popup window link
Users were confused by the digits (project ids) in the popup window links. To participants, they were meaningless and looked as a part of technical syntax/jargon that should be invisible

In addition, the link in the popup window didn’t work as some users expected. Half of the participants thought that clicking on the link would take them to a project-specific page rather than to a HOT tasking manager page.

Legend
Some users overlooked the legend entirely. According to them, it visually blended with the map, making it easy to ignore.

Legend items
Users had difficulty understanding the following legend items: “Campaigns sized by edits”, “TM Project centroids”, “TM Project boundaries”, “Project Coverage Area”. Users said these weren’t easily comprehensible and required a lot of cognitive effort. Most participants suggested explaining their meanings in a simpler format.
