To comfortably replace data we use in the GeoPandas documentation, we would ideally need:

  • one global dataset
  • one set of point and polygon data with some mutually exclusive information (like cities and countries we have now)

Since the nybb can be fetched and is already included here, we can still use that one.

Any ideas are welcome.

Hi Martin, what do you mean by global? A dataset that contains some info about all the world?

As for the set of point and polygon data, I think you really mean complementary information (e.g., cities which are located inside countries), more than actually mutually exclusive, right?

Yes. Most of what we have contains only subregions.

I mean something like countries with country name and population and cities with city name. It should be used as an example of spatial join where you need to use spatial operation to move data from one to the other layer. We do have some chicago data that can be used but would be nice to have a choice there.
