Purpose: to add video to the Hub Home Page (and increase engagement, users, retention)

See Example: email from MikeS on Feb 22, 2024 subject-line "Reporting just got easier!"

Possible Content:

  • start: show the "usegalaxy.*" address bar
  • scene:
    • show Tools (but not overwhelming)
    • show Tool Form
    • show split-screen with command line below comparison
    • clear the split-screen
  • scene:
    • show a Workflow
    • show split-screen with command line below comparison
    • clear the split-screen
  • scene:
    • show Tutorials (but not overwhelming)
    • show a Tutorial
    • show split-screen with Workflow being built by Tutorial
  • end: (loops)

Possible Video Software:

A datapoint: the youtube videos on the GTN homepage, despite being above the fold, sees terrible engagement and we will be moving it elsewhere. About 1-3 views a day, out of 2k uniques. And for the other 1999 users it negatively impacts page load times and privacy.

That's a great data point, thanks. Very surprising. Do you know if that's views embedded on the page or views after being redirected to YouTube?
