Use variables in a switch generator

Hello.
I'm writing some file templates and I want to calculate some namespaces of dependencies that I expect to have based on either some default or a value entered by the user; and I got everything done pretty well, except for the part that I don't seem to find a way to use variables (other symbols that I can calculated/derive/generate) like we can do in the coalesce generator, but with the switch generator.
Am I missing something and this is possible in some way, or is this something that's not yet available in the templating engine?
