#104 seemed to add the ability to query stats programmatically.

I would've expected a StatsCommand that replicates this functionality in the 2.0 redesign. Was this dropped? Am I misreading the API?

You're not misreading the API. There is no protocol buffers message for stats. I'll bring this up.

Workarounds include making an HTTP request to the /stats resource or running riak-admin status on the command line.
