@barryclark Gave us this wonderful template that was perfect for its time. But as we all know, the wheel of time continues to spin but we are humans and we can't keep with it. Barry has his own life, so he moved on with it and sadly the development wheel of jekyll-now stopped. The last commit made was in 2018 and one can safely assume that this project is dead. But all is not doomy and gloomy, there is an actively maintained fork of jekyll-now that has lots of new features and almost all of jekyll-now bugs are fixed. This project is called Forever Jekyll.
Besides numerous bug fixes, some of note-worthy features of Forever Jekyll are,

  • Dark mode toggle
  • Good looking and improved font stack
  • Font Awesome icon set
  • Search engine optimization
  • Commenting system
  • Analytics system
  • Improved syntax highlighting
  • Multimedia content (Video, Audio, Images, Playlists, Maps) embedding
  • Lightbox for images and videos
  • Math typesetting
  • Diagrams and charts
  • Social sharing buttons
  • Paginaion
  • Tags
  • Read time
  • Site search
  • And of-course, Emojis
