Any way to use "word-diff" instead of line diff ?

In git, it is possible to use the option --word-diff when calling git diff. This changes dramatically the amount of computed insertions/deletions, as they are not computed line-wise but word-wise.

Example (taken from this answer):

$ git diff --word-diff --no-index fileA fileB
diff --git a/fileA b/fileB
index 38ef89845..f417ca808 100644
--- a/fileA
+++ b/fileB
@@ -1,5 +1,5 @@
[-a-]line a line a line a
line a line a line a
line a line a line a
line a line a line a
line a line a line {+a+}

My question: is it possible to compute word-diff stats with git-quick-stats, or can only line stats be computed?

Answering myself: solved using the _GIT_LOG_OPTIONS variable.

In my case I did this:

_GIT_LOG_OPTIONS="--word-diff --ignore-all-space --ignore-blank-lines --ignore-space-change"
