Changing screen shots to not show dmca violations

My only request is that going forward you guys should only show screenshots of legal files such as linux distros that are being downloaded in the widget that shows speed and what files are being downloaded in sabnzbd or whatever torrent software is used. My reason is Nintendo is weaponizing DMCA and going after emulator software due to linking and showing the software being used to violate DMCA. I don't want to see this project taken down by movie studios with the same legal logic. IANAL

Hi, do you mean only for the screenshot in the official release post?
I do see your point. It could look like we encourage piracy.
As it stands, Yuzu was taken down for using copyrighted data in their project (more specifically a decryption key).
In our case, there's no protected data or elements they could go against.

I do agree that at the very least we could have blurred the listing, but I don't think you have to worry that much about us.

I'm just looking out for open source software that could be taken down due to this new legal power that right share holders are able to use. Maybe the rest of this github should be scrubbed of any mention or showing dmca violations...

Right Yuzu did use Copyright data but also a legal argument was used that even linking to how to get your own keys and to other software. Thank you for the discussion and I hope this software doesn't lead to any issues from right share holders.

Homarr doesn't facilitate piracy, it's just a hub that show data from other apps, we generate nothing.
Meaning they would have to go after the download clients first, and we all know how that's going for them.

@Tagaishi to be fair the same argument can be made about Yuzu, it didn't include any roms or links of where to get them

That's reaching. Yuzu was only made for playing roms. they were arguing that they were for legit users, but in the end roms are not permitted by Nintendo. We don't use nor play any pirated content, only show the name of a show or a movie. plus we are not focused at all on that, we have plenty more widget that have nothing to do with it. They would go after sonarr and radarr first since then again, we don't produce anything, only show what other apps produce.
Yuzu has the engine to run the games.
In any case, it is pointless. If there were ever a time they come after us, they wouldn't be able to take the app down, only request for us to stop supporting the more offending apps.
