What's the difference between the clustering/sorting_cached.npz and sorting/sorting_cached.npz in the output folder?

Hi @megwave

This is very specific to the spike sorter you are using (I guess tridesclous2/spykingcircus2).
In general, anything in the sorted_output folder is specific to the sorter.

I can provide some basic explanation though: both tridesclous2 and spykingcircus2 first do a round of clustering on a sub-sample of the detected peaks. This is saved to the clustering/sorting_cached.npz file and used for further processing, for example to extract waveforms for the found clusters. The average waveforms, are then used for the final template-mathing step, whose results are the "final" ones saved to the sorting/sorting_cached.npz
