[Bug]: CE Bulk Updates sent to async do not get sent/do not update

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. When I do a search for a set of CEs
2. Then I try to add a new collector role to a set 250 or less. (example query: https://sfg.taxonworks.org/tasks/collecting_events/filter?per=50&verbatim_collectors=C.%20A.%20Robertson&collectors=false&extend%5B%5D=roles&page=1)
3. Then I get a message saying the job was sent to Async process.
4. But it does not get sent/the objects never update. 
5. Same result with left and right side buttons.

Should go to async or at least process normally.
