kinoma.com DNS #26
Comments
Lyza, actually this demo is related to kinoma.com in that both are, to the best of my knowledge, controlled by Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. As you observed, Marvell appears to no longer support the Kinoma project. It is unfortunate that they have chosen not to maintain kinoma.com for archival purposes or to provide a re-direct to the information elsewhere. I'd like to see the Kinoma site content available, as I'm sure would others. Give me a couple days to see if I am able to get in touch with someone there who might be able to assist you. |
According to the people I checked with at Marvell, they expect kinoma.com to be active for some time. They have a long term plan to retire it, but no immediate plans. As several people have reported, the DNS entry for kinoma.com is not active, however, so the site is unreachable. The internal DNS servers at Marvell apparently have the correct information, as Marvell employees can still see the site. Their IT department is looking into how to fix the DNS entry that is used by the public internet. |
Thank you! I'm quite glad it plans on coming back to the world at large... |
Hi @phoddie ! Any progress on this? Is it possible to mirror this content elsewhere if the kinoma.com domain won't be coming up? Sorry to pester! It's literally the only thing keeping my book from going to production, as I don't know whether I can reference kinoma.com URLs in a chapter. |
I know they are actively working on it, as I receive email about it. But clearly it isn't resolved yet. Let's give it a few more days. |
@phoddie Excellent, and thank you, and sorry for putting so much pressure on this! I really appreciate the help. |
Still does not resolve. I've had a Kinoma Create sitting a shelf waiting for some free time. I just unwrapped it and tried to go to the getting started page ... and nada. :( |
That's gotta be frustrating. I pinged the good-folks at Marvell about this today. They should have everything they need to get DNS working again. Here's hoping they do that soon. |
Good news - http://www.kinoma.com is alive again. |
Disclaimer! I understand that this repo is not directly related to the kinoma.com domain nor website. However, I am unable to find another contact method as the previously-provided support link on the Kinoma website goes to forum.kinoma.com, which is unavailable.
Neither kinoma.com, nor www.kinoma.com nor forum.kinoma.com resolve for me or most of my colleagues across the US. A couple of colleagues are able to intermittently access the kinoma.com website, but only sometimes. This has been the case since at least last week.
I have a book, JavaScript on Things, going into production right now (scheduled publish December). In it, I have a section on the Kinoma Element, citing/linking to Kinoma documentation and information on kinoma.com. It's important that I determine whether or not Kinoma's site still exists and will continue to exist for at least the near future. Any help appreciated. Thanks!
