Displaying the generated man pages with man leads to strangely formatted output, at least it's different from what I'm used to from man

Doesn't man invoke nroffdirectly in order to display the formatted output? Right now our CUSTOM_COMMAND invokes nroff and produces the formatted man page in the output text file. Displaying this with man results in strange formatting.

My suggestion:

  • remove the nroff formatting in the build
  • use the CUSTOM_COMMAND to automatically add some general information like release information to all man pages
