Just next to make install, the PATH environment variable may not be already updated to include the prefix passed to configure. When this environment vairable is not already properly set, make installcheck fails with these messages:

4s-ssh-all does not support --version
4s-ssh-all-parallel does not support --version
4s-cluster-create does not support --version
4s-cluster-destroy does not support --version
4s-cluster-start does not support --version
4s-cluster-stop does not support --version
4s-cluster-info does not support --version
4s-file-backup does not support --version
4s-cluster-file-backup does not support --version

This may make someone erroneously believe something is broken, but it is not, as after PATH is updated to include 4store’s bin directory, then make installcheck returns no error.

May be a message like “There was errors: have you checked '$PATH' includes 4store’s bin directory?” could be enough.
